The Vienna Guppy was popularized and brought into the U.S. by Cory from Aquarium Co-Op. He discovered them at the World Guppy Championship in Vienna, Austria one year and brought them home to breed. Thankfully, his success has led to them being distributed across the country as more and more breeders get their hands on them. The males of these guppies are extraordinarily beautiful, with their long dorsals and exotic patterns. Unfortunately, the females are pretty plain, usually only displaying a tint of red on their dorsal fins. Guppies are one of the most popular fish in the aquarium hobby. They are gorgeous fish that come in so many different strains and colors. Like other livebearers, they need a good amount of calcium in their system, so they do best in harder water.
