Description:

Renowned for its captivating, starry appearance, the Galaxy Ricefish features a unique pattern of iridescent spots resembling a night sky filled with stars. These fish in particular come from Long Fin Black Diamond Medaka parents, so they have the long fin trait to give them some extra elegance in their movements. The Galaxy Medaka are one of the few exceptions of ricefish that look better when they are viewed from the side than from the top. Medaka ricefish originated in East Asia and were commonly found in rice fields, giving them the name "ricefish". They are a very hardy fish that can withstand temperatures as low as 35F and as high as 105F, but prefer to stay between 60F-80F. They do not like aquariums or ponds with a strong current, and are actually often kept in mini ponds with no filter or aeration. Ricefish are like Koi fish, and are bred to be viewed from the top, making them excellent choices for pond fish!
